Snow!

Hey everyone, it is predicted that we will have snow tomorrow! Yipee!
http://www.newsok.com/weather/7day

Well, today we went to town and I got to go by the library and get some books! I got 3 books about presidential politics over the years, 1 book about WWI, written by Winston Churchill, and 2 Boy's Life magazines. I am looking forward to reading those.

After coming home, myself and some of the members of CCB(The Christian Coalition of Bloggers) had a chat session. That's was a lot of fun. It took us a bit to get it all working, but we will know better next time. If you are a Christian, conservative, blogger and would like to join, please visit http://christiancoalition.blogspot.com for more information.

I would like to write some articles specifically for Christian young men. I hope to have some of those written and posted soon.

Wow, what a night!

Well, today has been a very good day. I lifted some weights, read a little, and feed cows with dad. Boy, it was beautiful here tonight! We had a full moon out and the sky was so clear and bright! I always enjoy gazing into the heavens on nights life this, and just thinking about how little we really are. Down here with all our worldwide events, and yet, there is so much greater still. If you were to travel to one of those distant heavenly bodies, God would be there. If, you traveled, down deep in the sea, He would be there. If you climbed the highest mountain, He would be there. And yet, with all that, He cares for me, one little speck, a little dot down here on this planet, in a pasture, somewhere in the state of Oklahoma. I am reminded of the following verse:

"If His eye is on the sparrow, then I know He watches me"

Praise God!

Update on Me!

Well life in "the real world" has gotten busy lately so I haven't been blogging as much. Here is an update on what I have been doing.

Youth Banquet: Our church hosts a youth banquet for all the highschool 's every year, a time for the youth to get together, share songs and what the Lord has been putting on their hearts as well as share a tasty meal. :-) Some of the seniors got up and shared what they have been learning in the scriptures and what they could like to pass on to the younger group. There were encouragements in purity, openness to parents, and to be a good roll modal to the younger group. I was very encouraged by all that was said. I praise the Lord for it all!

Talk to you later,

Getting the Christians together

Well, lately the conversation on Christian Blogs has been about organizing together to make a larger more effective community, where people could come and find hundreds of Christian bloggers, all at one site. I look forward to seeing where this line of thought will lead.

We are about to head off to the preparation day for our youth banquet, so I won't be blogging today as much as I might.

Have a good day!

Our Christian Heritage

Hey Guys,
I have just finished watching an interview with Mr. And Mrs Bush on ABC. I greatly enjoyed the interview and will highlight what stood out to me.

Mrs. Bush said that she wants to reach out to boys this next term. She said that now:

1. Less boys are going to collage.
2. More boys are getting into trouble.
3. Boys need more life skills training.
4. She said she would promote programs that are already set up for boys. (Like Boy Scouts maybe? :-)

She also said she hopes the next four years, parents will pay more attention to their children.
I am in complete agreement. I am so thankful for all the time my parents spend with me! My mom left a teaching job to homeschool me and my siblings. I am so grateful! I don't know where I would be without the biblical teaching of my mom and dad. We have a support group of people that all home school and all the people at our church home school. I don't know of anyone who would object to children learning to obey their parents and learn about the incredible Christian heritage left to us by our forefathers! I tell you what, I just love to study this nation's history and also the history of this world! There are so many story's of great Christian hero's! During the framing of our Constitution, the delegates could not agree on what kind of constitution this country should have, after much fruitless discussion, Benjamin Franklin addressed the body in this famous call to prayer: http://www.restoringamerica.org/documents/call_to_prayer.html

This is one of the many things left out of public school text books. There is so much history that is swept under the rug! We should be allowed to pray in public school! If our forefathers would use the great power of prayer, why should we deprive our schoolchildren of the same power? The text books should display our true history! It really doesn't matter if it "offends" someone! It is just the truth! If I told some one that if they walked off a cliff, they would fall, they could get offended, but it would still be the truth! It is not a matter of Christian "bias", it is only telling the truth as our forefathers handed it down to us! Our nation was founded by godly men who believed in God and prayed to Him for help and guidance! Every President since Washington has finished his oath of office with the words: "So help me God". What do schoolchildren hear about this? Can you hear this in a school room today?

"As our forefathers were creating the constitution, they found that with human reason they could not make a nation that would last a month, let alone 200 years, so kids, they had a recess and prayed to the one true God for guidance".

Oh my, the ACLU and the atheists would be jumping up and down shouting "fowl play". However there would be nothing wrong. The teacher would only be telling the truth. The Christian blood of our nation does not stop here! There are many many cases where our forefathers showed their faith! The First Amendment was created by men who had just spent two weeks seeking "divine guidance". These men were not in the resulting words banning religion, NO, far from it. They were protecting it(the church) from the snares of government! At that time the church in England was controlled by the king! The king therefore could meddle in church affairs for political reasons! That was what our forefathers wanted to stop! There was no thought in these men that their children should be kept from the teaching of the Bible! I quote Mr. Thomas Jefferson:

"I have said and always will say that the studious perusal of the sacred volume[the Bible] will make better citizens, better fathers, and better husbands"

What more could a person want then to be a better citizen, father, or husband? I now quote Mr. Andy Jackson:

"That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests."

Now on to Abraham Lincoln:

"I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book. But for it we would not know right and wrong"

I rest my case. The true history of our nation should be placed in our public schools. There should be an accurate account of the work God has done in this nation. What parent would not have their child to grow up to be a man like Abraham Lincoln? Every man who has served in the Oval Office has proclaimed to know God. President Bush represents the majority of our nation at this time, and I praise the Lord, the he[Bush] is our President. The Republican party's first president was Lincoln, and they continue the great tradition of moral values, with a pro-life, and traditional marriage agenda. I can only wish they pushed this agenda more. I hope that as the knowledge of our Christian forefathers grow, godly men will raise to the forefront, in our government, behind our pulpits, and across our land. Our nation has been a Christian nation from the very beginning and I sure see no reason to stop now.

God Bless America,
The Blogging Boy Scout,
Travis

P.S. This turned out to be more then just my thoughts about Bush's interview, but oh well, I don't mind. :-)

Some Scriptures For Young Men.

Ps 119:11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.

2 Pet 3:17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,

1 Pet 5:8 Be of sober {spirit,} be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
1 Pet 5:9 But resist him, firm in {your} faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
1 Pet 5:10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen {and} establish you.
1 Pet 5:11 To Him {be} dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Rom 13:12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Rom 13:13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.
Rom 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to {its} lusts.

My first Boy Scout Camp-out!

Well, today I was thinking about an new breed of articles here at the Boy Scout Blogger. I got to thinking, when I first made this blog it was to cover the 2004 election process and get to know like minded people online. Well, now that the election is over, I think I will add some story's of my Trail to Eagle and General Boy Scout story's. I hope you will enjoy them!

Our First camp-out:

Our very first camp-out was at a local scout camp. There were 6 of us,(5 of whom now are Eagle) and we were all pretty new to camping. I had only been on 2 camp-outs before and they were not all that rigorous. Our first scout camp-out was different though, we had to set up our own tents, fix our own meals,(after learning how of course) and were responsible for bringing all our camping gear and food. If we didn't being our stuff, we had to "improvise", a fancy word for making it work without the forgotten item. I only forgot one little thing...My tent poles! :-D My dad and I were to be sleeping in that tent and I am so thankful it didn't start pouring rain! We ran cord through the tent until it stood in sort of a hunch-back type position, to where we could get in to it, however we could not get the rain fly on!
Well, after the tents where up we proceeded to cook our first Scout meal: Hobo dinners! They turned out very well. We had a great and filling first dinner. If you would like the recipe, just google "hobo dinner". They are a great meal for new scouts. After that we headed off to bed. My dad and I slept on an air mattress that we had brought and slept very well. (Air mattress' are great for car camping but really aren't practical for backpacking as will be talked about, Lord willing, in a later article) The next morning we scouts had to fix breakfast, so we packed up our gear, and headed to another camp site to cook. It took us somewhere from 3-4 hours to get it all done! :-D We really had a lot to learn about cooking and fire building. One of our mistakes was that we wanted to light the fires before we had enough wood. So scouts, remember to have a good bit of wood handy before you start your fires. It really helps. We also got to try out our new hatchets that day. Boy, that was interesting. We learned the safety procedures and were careful to not be very close to each other as we chopped. Looking back, it was a great camp-out for us young scouts and really helped us out later in our camping experiences. One thing I would like to mention is that my dad was heavily involved with my scout experiences, he did not miss one camp-out, he was there every time. The scout troop was run by the dads of the boys and the scoutmaster.(Who was a respected member of our church and a Eagle Scout) We wanted to be careful as to what went on in our scouting adventures. Our parents didn't mind fun, but wanted to make sure that we were well supervised and protected. My dad and I had a great time, in scouting and learned a lot in the process. So I would really encourage parental participation as much as possible, in scouting and really any other activity.

God Bless,
In Christ,
The Blogging Boy Scout,
Travis

Modified tanks of D-Day

Well, it looks like the time to update the blog. I am sorry I have not been bloging as regular as I have in times past. I hope to change that soon though! :-) Well, yesterday we went to town, to take my sister to voice lessons and we also went by the library! I got three books, one about D-day in World War II, and two about cars. The one about D-day is pretty neat, it tells about the defenses on the beach and the weapons and tactics the Allies used to go through them. For example, some of the neatest things that were invented for the invasion were the brainchild of a Major-General Percy Hobart. He invented a series of modified tanks that could do specialized work on the battlefield. One tank was able to swim ashore under it's own power and land at the same time as the troops. With this ability, the heavy firepower of a 33-ton Sherman tank, would be there to back up the ground troops from the very earliest point in the battle. Two types of tanks were equipped with mortars or flamethrowers instead of cannons, another with a spool of road material that it laid down as it went forward, making a serviceable road on a beach where vehicles bogging down could be a problem. Another tank was designed for laying bridges across any obstacles. There are other tanks in the book, but these are the highlights. I hope everyone has a good day!

I will try to blog more later,
