Support Judge Alito!

Hey guys, here is a recent email I got from the ACLJ about Judge Alito. Please read on...

Dear Travis,

It is time to let your voice be heard!

Judge Samuel Alito has been nominated to the high court ... and we must do our part to make sure he is confirmed.

Add your name immediately to our PETITION TO SUPPORT JUDGE SAMUEL ALITO to Senator Tom Coburn and Senator James Inhofe - to ensure they know where you stand concerning the make-up of the Supreme Court of the United States.
The battle ahead for Judge Alito's confirmation is going to be a tough one.
Having been influenced by the abortion lobby and groups like People For the American Way, some Senators have already made up their minds about him. Sen. Hillary Clinton is against him. Sen. Ted Kennedy is against him.

In fact, Sen. Charles Schumer, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said, "If he continuously, given his previous record, refused to answer questions and hid behind 'I can't answer this because it might come before me,' it would increase the chances of a filibuster."
But I believe what you think should matter just as much. The First Amendment empowers you to ''petition the Government'' - so make your voice heard!
When your elected Senators cast their votes just days from now (a full vote is expected by January 20), I want to be certain they have your opinion in mind - because this is perhaps the single most important change at the Supreme Court in our lifetime.

Why?

Because Justice Sandra Day O'Connor represents the so-called ''swing vote'' Justice on the current Court, and she has voted against us in major cases ... against a partial-birth abortion ban ... against public displays of the Ten Commandments ... and for ''abortion distortion'' - voting to restrict free speech in certain ways if it involves a protest against abortion.
So, in spite of my respect for her as a member of the highest court in our land, I must also tell you plainly that she should be replaced by someone who shares your values and mine.
This is not a matter of casual preference. The next Supreme Court Justice will play a pivotal role in major decisions regarding religious freedom, same-sex marriage, abortion, parents' rights, pornography, the Pledge of Allegiance, and more. Which direction will America go?
Your opinion matters. Senators Coburn and Inhofe MUST hear your voice! And it should count when it matters most - as the Senate will decide, in the coming days, the make-up of the Supreme Court of the United States.

This is why I urge you to sign your name to our PETITION TO SUPPORT JUDGE SAMUEL ALITO to your U.S. Senators RIGHT NOW! The hearings have already started - so your quick response is crucial!
