A Letter to My Son

This article contains my hopes and dreams for the raising up of my future sons. It is written as a letter from me to them.

My son(s),

I desire above all that you come to a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe, Jesus Christ. I long for you to know the joys of following in His footsteps. To know Christ and make Christ known is the greatest adventure a human being can undertake and if I could impart only one truth to you, it would be this: “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.” (See Ecclesiastes 12:13)

I desire to raise you up according to Biblical principles using texts from the Bible and the works by Micheal Pearl and Steve Maxwell to craft your training program.

I want to give you a love for reading. Nothing else on earth is quite like the joy of reading a great book. When you open the pages of “Pilgrim's Progress” or “Robinson Crusoe” you are taken on a fantastic journey through the epic struggles, falls, victories, and triumphs of the men of yesteryear. When a great man of old took up his stone tablet, his papyrus, or his quill, he is giving you a treasure drawn from his most precious possession, his experience. The most glorious gift God gives to you in your youth is your strength and the greatest gift of older men is their experience. If you learn from the sayings and writings of older and wiser men, you will gain the glory of both gifts. (See Proverbs 20:29) I hope to inspire you in your early years with the tales of the world's greatest men and their achievements so that one day you can yourself raise to join their ranks.

I would have you come to love history and biographies. Mankind faces similar problems every generation, and if armed with the wisdom of the past, we can overcome the problems of the future.

I would have you be as cunning as serpents and as innocent as doves. I desire to train you to honor those things that are worthy of honor and reject those things which are without worth. I want to train you to discern evil from good and choose to do right. (See Matthew 10:16 and Romans 12:21)

In your early years I want to instill a love in you for music. I want you to hear the Scripture songs of the “Dough-Nut Man” and the songs of family by Steve and Annie Chapman. I desire to hear you humming songs that praise the Lord. I would desire that you learn to make music and sing praise to the Lord with your voice or through piano, guitar, or other instruments. I desire that you learn to cry out to the Lord through prayer and song in times of joy or sorrow. I want to be able to see your face beam with joy at the “William Tell Overture” and your feet stomp with joy at the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

I desire that you will possess a “Protestant work ethic.” By this I mean that you learn to love hard work that pursues a great and noble goal. That when the time for godly duty calls, be it for your mother, your family, your education, or your country, you will throw yourself into the fray with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.

I pray that God would grant you a vision. By this I mean that God would reveal to you the purpose for which He created you and that you would follow that vision with all your heart. For your grandmother, that vision was one of Homeschooling, of raising godly children at home. It is my goal to continue that vision in your lives.

You should always honor your mother and sisters and be kind to them at all times. It is the job of men to honor, protect, and cherish ladies as God's most beautiful creations and you can do no better than to start with your mother and sisters. The honor men give women is an ancient trust, handed down from the greatest of the knights and cowboys, with its oldest roots resting with Boaz in the book of Ruth and you would do well to follow in their footsteps.

I would have you boys to be hearty, healthy and fit so that you are ready to embark on whatever missions the Lord may choose to grant to you. I want your minds sharp and your bodies athletic. You are to present yourselves to the world in a manly fashion walking will full strides and erect posture. Nothing in this world looks worse than a slouching man unless it is a wet cat. Your handshake is to be hearty and firm without being hard and painful. A weak handshake is not an honor to a man. Grace of comportment and lightness of foot are to be trained with dancing classes and fencing instruction. Boxing and martial arts are excellent ways to train yourself in quickness of thought and action. Being able to talk about sports and compete in them is an important part of being a man, but that training of the body must be carefully balanced with the training of the mind and soul.

I would desire my sons to be problem solvers and critical thinkers. Too many people in this world have never felt the joy of organizing a project or solving a problem. Chess, Checkers, and Stratego are excellent games to promote this methodical way of thinking. I would desire you to be competent in the prominent technology of your day. In your Great Granddad Standridge's time, he figured out a way to install the first air conditioning unit ever installed in a car in the town of Lexington Oklahoma while in your Great Granddad Henry's day he invented a new cattle gate latch that would open from either direction. In my time it has been building my own computers and repairing other electronics. I would love to see you continue that legacy. In your early years, I hope you can join me in my love of LEGO blocks. Nothing is quite like creating anything you like with your own two hands.

Whatever it is that you come to do my boys, do it with all your might. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:29: “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.” No matter the political climate, no matter the economy, there will always be a place for a man who is skilled in his work.

When talking about movies, reading books, listening to music, speaking with people, I want you to learn to discern whether or not these people are speaking from a Godly or historical perspective or not. I want you to be able to tell good wisdom from falsehood. I desire to talk with you about these things and I am sure your mother will also. That is one thing I will always love about your Grandma Henry's home, is that we could always talk about anything. We could take a topic of any kind and pick it apart finding out the core moral of the idea at hand, and finding out if that agreed with Scripture and history or not.

I hope that you will have a love of nature and of the outdoors. God's creation has so much beauty for one to see if they will only look. A long hike followed by a picnic is great fun and a camping trip is a time of wonder. I desire that you be able to safely load, clean, shoot and care for firearms, knives, tents and other outdoor equipment. I want you to be able to safely ride bicycles, drive cars, operate ATV's, drive a standard, and operate a tractor and any other equipment you may encounter.

I desire that you know your way around the house. I want you to know how to wash dishes, run a load of laundry, and cook a full meal if need be. While these duties are commonly thought of as a girls domain, he-man soldiers the world over train regularly at these skills and so should you. It will give you an appreciation for the work your mother and sisters do and will make you self reliant.

I would desire that you be a researcher. If you do not know something, I want you to be able to find out that information. I want you to know how to use a library, how to use the Internet, and how to read instructions.

I want you to have an appreciation for art. Creativity and innovation are invaluable qualities to possess and art is a vehicle for both of these. Whether creating a blueprint for your next LEGO creation or painting a masterpiece of God's creation, I hope art will play a role in your life.

Having the ability to bring order to chaos is a skill that all boys should possess. Battles have been lost due to slipshod handling of something as trivial as a horse shoe nail. King Richard the Third mourned:

"For lack of a nail a shoe was lost."
"For lack of a shoe a horse was lost."
"For lack of a horse a soldier was lost."
"For lack of a soldier a battle was lost"
"For lack of a battle a war was lost"
"For lack of a war a kingdom was lost."
"All for lack of a nail."

Do your best to see that no “kingdom” in which you have a part is lost “all for lack of a nail.”

My son, the desire of my heart is to see you grow up and glory in the service of the King of Hosts. I desire you to have long life and see good days. I would like to draw this letter to a close by quoting a prayer from one General Douglas MacArthur to the Heavenly Father over his son.

“Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.
Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Lead him I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.
Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.
And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
Then, I, his father, will dare to whisper, have not lived in vain.”

I would like to close this letter with my own prayer for you.

Oh Father God, give him courage and strength to overcome all difficulties he may face. Please give him wisdom and ability in the way you would have him go. Please give him clear vision in the path of grace and the will to follow that path to the end. Please prepare Him as a golden vessel for service unto You. I desire that he be pure in heart and righteous in word and deed. Please give his mother and me the wisdom and ability to guide his footsteps in the way they should go. Please let him be a honor unto Your Name. Let him be trained as You see fit above all else. Let Your will be done in his life.

In Your Son's Name I pray,

Success, what is thy standard?

Wealth, beauty, fame, fortune, just what is this elusive phantom we call success? What is the end goal of life? Observe...and discern.

A family of our acquaintance is frankly rolling in money. The entire family seems to enjoy every creature comfort imaginable, they also have been gifted with extraordinary talent in the arts, in athletics, and in many other areas. Many would find it easy to define them as the example of "success." Yet, this family struggles with rebellion, drunkenness and other vices. It would seem that perhaps in chasing "success" they have lost something, the hearts of their children. Is it worth it?

A young girl I know of has been given great outward beauty. She always seems to be dressed "perfectly" and is always current on the latest fashions, yet, it is known that she struggles greatly with depression in her maintenance of her outward looks.

I recently was able to purchase a laptop for a discounted price during Black Friday. Right after making my purchase, I went to a fast food place to get a bit to eat. While waiting inside for my order, I found myself worrying that someone would smash the window in of my car and cart away my new possession. Worry had been added to my life that hadn't been there before, just with the addition of a new earthly thing. What does this tell us about life in general?

As I seek the carer the Lord would have for me, it would be relatively easy to seek a job with a high salary. A patent attorney in Dallas Texas I know of makes $280,000 each year, if one so chose, money could be obtained in large amounts in a carer of that type. With that kind of money, the cars, the house(s), every imaginable earthly dream moves into reality. Yet, at what cost?

It chasing down money a worthy cause on which to sacrifice the souls of one's family? Certainly not. Does great outward beauty remove all thoughts of how people view your outward appearance? It would appear not. Does a nice new laptop add a worry to life? Why, yes it does. So is it these things that we should be chasing in life? Or is it...something bigger?

I believe that money can and is used for good, however, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil as the proverb says. I believe that beauty of the outside fades, but spiritual beauty lasts a lifetime. I believe that laptops are nice, but treasures in heavan are far better. So, as we follow the Lord in His ways of hard work and dillegence, if things like money, beauty, and material things are the partial fruit of that labor, let us remember the things of true value they are the shadows of. In wealth, let us not forget family, in beauty of the outer, let us glory in the beauty of the inner, in times of a laptop, let's remember where are true treasure needs to lie.

The Destiny of Man

Destiny? The very word sends thrills through my very heart. The fire of passion lights within me, and my being trembles in awe. Destiny...the purpose God Almighty Himself has laid out for His servants, each individuals own private blueprint of life, the perfect use of God's creation in full rapport and agreement with His will.

Marriage to the perfect woman? Children of unlimited character and quality? Reformation of nations? Triumph of good over evil, with the the very banner carried by the likes of Churchill, Washington, Lincoln, yes, Christ Himself. Salvation for billions in the path of Billy Graham. Destiny...the thrill of knowing God is with you. What is it for me?

Fiction and history both deluge forth examples to follow, in the Star Wars universe, can anyone not create a personal likeness that would love to posses in that world? Can a perusal of history fail to produce a role model? In whatever one sees, cannot one find a role to be filled?

Yet, in this world, reality seems to cloud the clear vision of fiction and past fact. The highly defined lines of stories and dreams blear before the eyes of the present and the now. Yet...the inspiration remains...the dream lives on.

What were the heroes of the world thinking at 20 years of age? Washington was busily surveying the wild country beyond the Appalachians, little thinking perhaps that Destiny held for him the honor of heading the birth of a world super-power. Did Jesus know in the carpentry shop the the cross and eternal salvation for all was His quest? Churchill at my age was getting shot at in South Africa, to coin his famous phrase, "Nothing in the world is so exhilarating as to be shot at with no effect." Already his wit had revealed itself. Did Ronald Reagan have any idea what awaited him in his later years? Does a John Doe have any inkling of his life's path? Yet life goes on...

My very soul longs for the glories and triumphs of the men before me, "what am I to do?" is my prayer. The good they were able to do, the people they saved, the advancements they made, all culminating with us, in the here and now. The triumphs, the dreams, the visions, yes, even the defeats, the failings, they all lie at our feet, waiting for us to take them on to our children, and our grandchildren. What they do with them rests with themselves and God, but right now, they are ours to grasp, to hold, to run on this leg of the human experience. Who grasps? Who holds? Who is worthy of this cause?

Will the futile, the frivolous, do these causes honor? Will the stench of godlessness rule our generation? Or will we take up the sword of rightousness and strike the beast to the ground? What will be done? What will I do? What will you do?

Rejection or Acceptance?

Over the past several years, I have noticed a strange phenomenon accruing among the young people in the homeschooling movement in our area. When children are small, a great like-mindedness is present among the vast majority of homeschooling parents. All children should be respectful, obedient, kind considerate, reverent, etc. These principles are in most cases universal and parents enforce them as such. However, as children blossom into youth, and youth rapidly become young adults, standards start to shift. As young homeschoolers grow near the time of "coming of age" homeschooling parents react in a plethora of different ways. Some parents throw the reins to the ground, and let their almost grown kids run wildly about, disgracing with their actions Christianity and the home-education movement. Other families raise their children to this age with no seeming change in behavior.

What makes the difference?

Why does one child follow Christ while another forsakes? Why does one child faithfully await a pure marriage and in the end, receives with great joy, God's partner for their lives, while another jumps ship and commits fornication at the first opportunity?

I'M BACK Y'ALL!!!

Greetings Friends, Readers, and Spam Bots,

After more then a year of posting hibernation, the Blogging Boy Scout has returned to the blogosphere, under a new name, and with new thoughts and ideas to share.

Since we last meet, I have completed two semesters in college, and am busily working on a third. My relationship with the Lord is growing. My Mustang continues to run well and remains a joy in my life. The Lord is faithful and continues to work and mold me into one of His people. My career path remains in the shadows of the unknown, but I am confident the Lord will make it plain to me in His good time.

During my blogging absence, I find that my good friends Alex and Kierstyn are courting, Regenerate Our Culture keeps marching on and Agent Tim continues to change the world. Theses are good things that are happening in our world, and I am proud to even have the knowledge of them. So much of the world is full of hate, lust, lewdness, and vile, yet Christ's light continues to shine through those who have seen even a glimpse of His glory.

God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

Through good times and bad, may the Lord continue to grow His chosen ones.

I am here at the ECU campus Writing Center this morning and thought I would hop on and update. We got all the "I"'s dotted and "T"'s crossed on the Mustang yesterday so it's now road legal! I just finished working on my Comp I essay. I am looking forward to Biology class later today. Our teacher is really cool. Exams are coming up. I am needing to get ready. Dad and I rode into town together today and that was good.

I GOT MY CAR!!!!!!

Here it is, folks. I have at long last, found my car. It's a 2000 Mustang, V6, automatic in really nice shape. We had been looking all over the country side for just the right one, and then we found it just 4 miles from our house! It was a girl's car and has not been hot-rodded. It has a charcoal interior which I like better than the tan standard option. It's just really cool and I am so happy to have found my car!

College Work Study

Hey Guys!

So much has happened since my last post, I don't know where to start. I should probably start by saying I have started college at ECU and I am really enjoying it! It has been really fun thus far. I was honorably discharged from the grocery store and was blessed to be hired by the ECU history department. Change can happen so fast.

Outside the history office we have a board that you can post liberal or conservative views on current day issues. I am considering posting some of my writings from Virtue Magazine and/or Regenerate Our Culture. It looks like the conservatives could use so boosting.

A Camping We Will Go...

Hello everyone,

Dad and I are about to head out on a Eagle Scout reunion trip down into the longhorn stomping grounds of Texas. We are going to the Glenn Rose Dinosaur National Park for the weekend. Our old Scoutmaster, Larry Parks, will be flying in to be with us. I am greatly looking forward to visiting with him and the other members of our troop.

Here is a video I just have to share with you guys. It is a video version of the famous Mark Schultz song, "Letters From War". It's a great song with a great message of courage, hope, and dedication on both the home front and out in the wars of this world. This is what family is all about, the strength that comes from a father, mother, sons and daughters, who are overcoming with the power given to them by God. Enjoy.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hello everyone!

I am sorry it has been so long since my last post. Life has been a mix of work, car shopping, and more work. But the birthday of our nation is a good time to update. :-)

I go in to the store today, but instead of working 4-9 like I normally do, Mr. Andrews(My Employer) has switched our hours so we can be home in the evening! So today I work 1-6! We are breaking out our Bush/Cheney '04 cups to use while we devour our frito chili pie over fireworks this evening. :-)

Good grief! Where did 18 go? That's right folks, today the Boy Scout Blogger turns the big 1-9.

With the teen years fading fast, I feel I should be reflecting on where I have been. But life seems to be rushing right along with little regard to my ruminating needs. My high school graduation is planned for this Sunday and I have much I need to do for that. Also, our homeschool groups end of the year party is tonight and I am getting ready for that. (Did I forget to mention that I work all day tomorrow at the grocery store? :-P)

Yes, life is busy, but God is good and he will lead me rightly.

U.S. Senate To Vote On Homosexual Marriage June 6

The most important vote in the Senate this year! The future of our children is at stake.

Dear Travis,

On June 6, the U.S. Senate will vote on the constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Time is short! It is critical that you contact your senators and ask them to vote for the Marriage Protection Amendment (MPA). Once homosexual marriage is legal, our religious liberties will be stripped away. Even pro-homosexual marriage advocates agree with that statement.

Print it out and give a copy to your pastor! We expect Democratic senators to vote to kill the MPA. The public is not aware that the Democratic National Committee has given thousands of dollars to homosexual groups to help promote homosexual marriage. The groups supporting homosexual marriage have activist judges waiting to make homosexual marriage legal. It is expected that the Washington state Supreme Court will rule homosexual marriage legal as soon as the elections are over. Some feel the ruling has already been made, but they will not release it until after the November elections. They don't want to hurt the pro-homosexual liberal nominees in the elections. Only a constitutional amendment will stop homosexual marriage from becoming the law of the land.

Travis has been kidnapped.

Several days ago, our friend Travis was working at his computer when a golden beast attacked him and forced him off the internet. Travis fought back with great vigor and vein with all the tools he could bring to bear, but to no avail. With one last great effort, he formatted his harddrive and escaped the cluches of the hardware error. He then begin searching for his friends, his blog, his AIM, all the companates of the computer that he managed to save...or had lost altogether. Finally, he restores enough to again look upon his good friend "blog".

That's right folks. After a computer bug that kept me off the internet for over a week, I am finally back and kicking here at the Boy Scout Blogger. Here are some updates.

I enrolled over at ECU for the fall term and am looking forward to starting college. It should be a real learning experience in more ways then one. The current majors I am looking at are Legal Studies, Political Science or History. I am currently leaning toward Legal Studies.

I have been working down at the store and working on mastering my duties.

And speaking of work, that time is growing near, so I had better bid you good bye with the joyful knowledge that the Boy Scout Blogger is back online!

The Kentucky Board of Education has voted to take the first step in redefining how America dates time. The board voted to include a new secular system of dating the calendar, BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era), and added it to the BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini, Latin for "in the year of our Lord") method.

The new secular system of time dating will appear in the curriculum and other materials used by Kentucky educators. This new system is already being included in textbooks across the nation.

The new method will replace the birth of Christ as the dividing point in history. For example, the new system would change 2006 AD (Anno Domini) to 2006 CE (Common Era).

It also opens the door for the ACLU to find a liberal activist judge who will forcefully remove the use of BC and AD. The ACLU types will claim that the use of BC and AD are a violation of the First Amendment because it dates history based on the birth of Christ.

Take Action

Signal Flags and Warning Signs

This ironic picture of a "protest" by Hispanic High School students, shows all too clearly the flaws of our policy regarding our Southern border and immigration. Michelle Malkin covers the story.

When I first saw this picture, I thought, "What?...weird." because it gives off a very clear meaning to someone who knows about flag protocol.

First of all, the Mexican Flag on top would seem to indicate that the picture was taken in the country of Mexico, because the flag of one's homeland is always flown above all other countries flags in one's homeland. However, this picture was taken at Pioneer, California at aforementioned Hispanic protest which send the signal that said students wish for Mexico to reconquer California. Interesting object for those who support illegal immigration INTO the United States FROM Mexico to support...

Then we look at the American flag on the lower part of the pole. Here is the rule for flying a flag upside down.

" The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property".

So it would appear that these students are attempting to say, "Up with Mexico! Down with the US!" are in fact saying, "We are taking over this land!" while the US flag is calling our nations attention to the danger of illegal immigration.

One of Miss Malkins readers sent her a Teddy Roosevelt quote which goes very well with this topic.

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American..."

"...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

We have to get our borders locked down and fast. If this picture is any reflection of the loyalty and support that these people will give our nation, I suggest they return to the country who's flag they are defiantly waving.

I have no grudge against their color or race, but I would denounce any and all who promote their nation at the expense of the United States whether they be white, black, brown or purple for that matter. I know not the offence for attempting to disgrace the Mexican flag in Mexico, but I would guess that such an offender would be mobbed at the very least.

If someone Mexican or any other nationality wishes to come into the good ol' USA because they desire to raise their families, own their own home, work hard, or worship God free of government oppression, I say to them "Welcome Aboard! and I would be proud to shake their hand as a fellow countryman. But if you come over here with the intent to support "the old country" at the expense of the new, I say to you, "Return from whence you came." Being a citizen of the United States means a little more then flouting authority at your school and singing the praises of another country. I have included below the Oath all immigrants must take after legally immigrating and when they are applying for citizenship.

THE OATH OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP
I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God. In acknowledgement whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature.

Anyone who is not willing to take such an oath or the equivalent according to the dictates of their faith, of any color or race, or anyone who is not willing to abide by the terms of the same, should not be allowed citizenship. It is as simple as that.

Camp and Scholarships

Hello all,

It has alas, been another week since I have blogged. It seems that the older I get the less time I have for some parts of life I have enjoyed in times past. (Reading, for example) However, I do have some good news to share with you.

First of all, I would like to FINALLY tell you guys about what happened at church camp. We spent a lot of time in the Word over the weekend and there where many who where drawing near to the Lord. When the time came of Saturday night for praise and worship, many hearts where softened and crying out to the Lord. There were people on their knees and people repenting of their sins and worshiping the Lord. It was really a blessed time. It was really good to be in the fellowship of Christian brothers and sister who are truly seeking the Lord and desiring to follow Him. I praise the Lord for His goodness.

Second of all, yesterday we got a letter from East Central University. I was at work when it came and had come to my grandma's house to work on her computer when mom called me. The letter said that ECU had examined my ACT scores and is willing to grant me a scholarship for 500 dollars a semester! That with another scholarship will pay for my college education! Blessed be the name of the Lord! I am very humbled and blessed by the Lord's grace and mercy on my life. He is very good.

Man this week flew by. I just realized I have not blogged since Tuesday and I thought I had better update. :-) I still need to get a post out on the great things that happened at camp, but please allow me to share this with you. This ends an audio story we have and this time I took it down. It is well worth any young man's time to read. This is our goal.

Youth Camp 2006

Hello everyone,

Today, my sister and I are getting ready for our church's annual Youth Camp. In years past it has provided a very welcome time of well supervised encouragement and fellowship to our youth. I truly feel that there are few places on this earth that are as uplifting and encouraging as this camp alongside the youth from our church. We play soccer, basketball, volleyball and board-games in the beautiful rolling hills and mountains of Western Oklahoma. This will be my last year due to my graduation this year, so this particular trip has special meaning to me.

I would like to remind my blog readers to not loose heart as the days march on and evil seems so strong. Be reminded that there is a mighty God who looks after those who take up their cross and follow Him. Lord willing, I will be back at the blogging controls Sunday night or Monday.

If you are hard up for reading material with out your daily dose of the BBS, you might have a look at what I was doing one year ago at this time. I went paging at the State Senate, got interviewed TWICE and was trying my best to support Terri Schivo. :-( But all in all, a cool time to look back on. So if your interested about what was going in WAY BACK THEN in March 2005, have a look.

Thoughts of Men, Morals, and History

After hearing the audio of that teacher from Colorado ranting about the perversity of our country, I took to thinking. One of his major points is, why do we have a right to retain and design weapons of mass destruction, while discouraging other nations from doing so?

The answer to that, to me is simple. We are the good guys, they are the bad guys and we don't want them to be able to hurt us, or take away our freedom. To place all nations on the same moral footing, as that teacher does, is to make history into mindless garbled mush. If you teach history without clearly showing who was in the right and way, history just becomes a bunch of boring mindless information about a bunch of dead people did to no end, good or evil. What in the world would make people want to turn history into that? Their own diabolical ends no doubt.

History is the true story of Good vs Evil, Right vs. Wrong, and Christ over Sin. History after all is, HIS-story. To present history in such a way as to remove right and wrong from it, is to promote lethargy, and laxity among the next generation. If a generation is raise according to the principles that teacher was instructing those students in, we will suddenly have a large group of people who no longer care what is right and what is wrong. Slowly, surly, with that kind of teaching, our nation will not longer view our nations hero's of Normandy and Iwo Jima as good men fighting the oppression of evil, but as another line of monkeys seeking their own dominance. With this lie our schools are turning children away from wisdom.

Prov 1:7 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools
despise wisdom and instruction.

Then it goes on to say what the fear of the Lord is.

Prov 8:13 "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate.

So what these teachers are doing is teaching children to accept evil as a natural thing people have the "right" to do. That could not be more false! Pfft. Good grief there is a lot of stuff that needs fixed in this old world. But I am encouraged because the Word goes on to say:

"When the Adversary shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall
lift up a standard against him." Isaiah 59:19

Blessed be the Name of the Lord. My fellow Christians, we are called to be a part of this host. We are to proclaim the truth throughout the land. Let us be about our task.

And last but not least, I found this this article which seems to be the most in-depth of the three. (Video included) This one goes on to say that the judge in question, a Ms. Brooke Murdock, overturned a 33 year old law "against same-sex marriage". What gives her the right to do that I ask? Why does she have the right to overthrow a clearly constitutional statute? A statute that is and was clearly supported by the writers of our constitution as we saw in my post yesterday. This is a clear overstepping of judicial power. Thomas Jefferson warned us that:

"[T]o consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional
questions [is] a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us
under the despotism of an oligarchy. . . . The Constitution has erected no such
single tribunal.
The Constitution . . . [would be] a mere thing of wax in the hands of the
judiciary which they may twist and shape into any form they please."(link)

That is where the problem lies. When a judge is able to invent from thin air the right for sodomy, he or she clearly has overstepping the bounds of the constitution and the bounds of all that is righteous and holy. Let us look at the thoughts of John David Michaelis, the author of an 1814 four-volume legal work. (Text provided by David Barton here)

"Whoever, therefore, wishes to ruin a nation, has only to get this vice (Sodomy)
introduced; for it is extremely difficult to extirpate it where it has once
taken root because it can be propagated with much more secrecy . . . and when we
perceive that it has once got a footing in any country, however powerful and
flourishing, we may venture as politicians to predict that the foundation of its
future decline is laid and that after some hundred years it will no longer be
the same . . . powerful country it is at present."

Let us look at an example of a court out of control.
If a judge had been allowed by the legislature to overturn laws that the people make without any check, slavery would not have been abolished. (see this article about half way down the page)

This is the reason that legislators like Delegate Dwyer MUST take action to stop these judges from overturning laws that are both constitutional and moral. To allow otherwise is to turn our country into a dictatorship of nine persons in black.

South Dakota Abortion Ban passed!

Update:
I am so glad this bill was signed into law yesterday. This is a clear cut case of the people of South Dakota taking the law back from a bunch of liberal justices and saying with their votes, "We will not allow the wholesale murder of children to continue, the buck stops here".
Boy howdy, do we ever need more states to pass laws like this.

My guess is that the liberals are going to play their same old hand, "woman's "right" to privacy, woman's right to choose, etc, etc. I have a question for those who support these views, what about the babies rights, hmm? I believe our government should protect its citizens, not kill them. As I have said before, the only mindset that allows for a mother to kill her child is a mindset of humanism, a mindset that places the mother in the position of God, a mindset, by the way, which goes along nicely with evolution's "natural selection". These mindsets take into no account such has beens as right and wrong. Doesn't jump out at me as the type of philosophy I want my country to use as its basis for law. Let's throw it out and get another. One who believes that life begins at conception and innocents should be protected if at all possible.

Good morning everyone!

Well, today is my big work day, so I don't have a lot of time this morning, but here goes.

I thought this was kinda interesting, the winners of 'Christian Oscars' where announced. Both "Sue Thomas F.B. Eye" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" made the cut. Great shows, the both of them.

And in this very interesting article from WORLD magazine, writer Lynn Vincent talks about the Democratic party's new Born again? style message.

I talked about the change in the liberals rhetoric in this post, during the President's State of the Union Address. The libby's are just out for your votes, ladies and gentleman, and their core party platform has not changed. They STILL support abortion, as a national party. They STILL support the Welfare state and they STILL support gay marriage! Any Democrat you find who is pro-life and pro-Christian marriage, is the exception in his party and by his vote for members of that party still supports a party which supports and upholds these abominable acts.

In other news, Agent Tim has caught a dreadful case of March Madness. (I wish we all where struck by such good luck.) He visited PHC and got to visit in person with Scott Somerville. Lucky Dog. :-D Go Tim!

Edit: Well, I am back. :-) As Alex talked about today, there was a young man who recorded a liberal geography teacher ranting about the similarities between Bush and Hitler while in class. (Just wondering...What does political theory have to do with geography anyway?) But that was a big issue today and will continue to be one to watch.

Also, the Senate Approved the Patriot Act Renewal.

Another story which didn't seem to get as much attention was this story intitled "Bush differs with South Dakota abortion bill". It is a bit late for me to write a full comment, perhaps more on that later.

One thing though, is it right to kill a child because something wrong and evil happened to the mother?

James Robison's mother didn't think so.

A bill that would ban nearly all abortions in South Dakota and spark a challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision is heading to Governor Mike Rounds for his signature. Planned Parenthood, which operates the only clinic performing
abortions in South Dakota, has pledged to challenge the measure in court if Gov.
Rounds signs it into law.

Gov. Rounds' signature would mark the first time since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion nationwide that a state legislature has passed such a sweeping ban. The bill, known as H.B. 1215, makes abortion illegal except to save the life of the mother.

The bill was sponsored in the House by Rep. Roger Hunt, a Republican, and in the Senate by Sen. Julie Bartling, a Democrat. The bill states that "life begins at the

right to life."

The legislators went through the proper legislative channels to pass the law, and did not depend on an activist judge to make law like the pro-abortion supporters do.

It has been revealed to me just recently, that of all the battles Christians face in the modern political spectrum, the evil we are fighting at all fronts is humanism. This is the evil that says man was not created, this is the evil that says the founding fathers opinions no longer matter in constitutional questions, this is the evil that seduces voters to stay home from the polls and refuse to fight evil.

These are the man Paul spoke of in his second letter to Timothy when he said:

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant,
revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable,
malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous,

form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as
these.
For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women
weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never
able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed
Moses, so these {men} also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in
regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress; for their
folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was
also.

Now, we know the course set before us. We are to fulfill our God given role as the salt and light of the earth, by "Knowing the sacred writings" from the time we are a child, being ready in and out of season to teach, correct, reprove, and exhort the Truth. We are to be ready to receivpersecutionon and triblulation, for Christ is forever faithful and will not allow us into a trail that cannot be overcome through him.

Hello everyone,

My time is a bit limited this morning but I wanted to address this article I found at Yahoo. Apparently Feb 9th is/was Darwin's birthday, and many macroevolutionests came out and had a big party. That poor sad little man. This theory of his has done more then almost any other teaching of our time to corrode Christianity, morality, and basis of right and wrong. As Sam Ashwood recently said in his great article "The Moral Base of Monkeys":

"I often wonder, Why do the college textbooks I study, that promote evolution,
and scorn any idea of Biblical creation, also condemn Hitler, Stalin, or any
other monstrous tyrants? Those dictators were simply acting out Darwin's
doctrine. How can any evolutionist/atheist say that racism is wrong?(I do not
include in my argument here those who believe in deistic evolution; though I do
strongly believe that they err, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God,
and in all likelihood are unbelievers).
Is it not logical that some humanoid
apes are more highly evolved than others? Then why should not one group, if it
can accumulate the power, lord it over another group? Why can they not slaughter
them, if they think that other group stands in their path to power? After all,
it is only survival of the fittest. If they don't kill them now, that other
tribe of apes may some day gain enough power to kill them. So, we should issue
an apology to all the dictators who have received our calumny in time past. They
were only fulfilling the will of the Monkey-god."

As this article points out, if a person truly believe in "natural selection", what problem can he have with one group of people taking over, killing, enslaving, another people? A macroevolutionests/liberal response will likely respond that no one should be able to take away the rights of another human. Then you respond, who gives these people their rights? The government? That cannot be! Because in Hitler's day killing Jews was a government endorsed thing to do. No it cannot be the government that gives people rights... They will him and haw for a bit, and then you will say, let me tell you what our founding fathers said about that. He will look at you and wince a bit, then you quote the Declaration of Independence.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that
they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among
these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

There. That is who gives all humans rights. Not a government made with human hands, but the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And this plague called macroevolution is working daily in the schoolrooms and universities of our land to undermine the Christianity and moral fiber upon which our nation's foundation rests. Why did Northern soldiers march into battle during the Civil War with the words of the Battle Hymn of the Republic ringing from their lips?

"As He(Christ) died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is
Marching on!"

I'll tell you why! Because they where obeying and believe the verse in John 15 which says:
"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.These man where Christians! Our founders where overwhelmingly Christian! And yet, schoolchildren in our school are told none of this. They are made to believe that our founders where deists, atheists and other such. This is simply false. In the words of Teddy Roosevelt:

"Almost every man who has by his life-work added to the sum of human achievement
of which the race is proud, of which our people are proud, almost every such man
has based his life-work largely upon the teachings of the Bible."(1)

This is where the battlelines are drawn. Either we are going to study history as it truly is, or we are doomed to repeat the errors of those who have gone before. The greatest danger to our country lies in the camp of evolution and humanism, the two camps of forever one. If a person believe one he believe the other. Let us define humanism.

"Humanism is the belief that the human being is the supreme being. Humans are
capable of self-fulfillment, ethical conduct, etc, without recourse to the
supernatural."

Humanism set man up as God, by placing him in judgment throne above God. It is the ultimate form of rebellion. This is what happens when we tell schoolchildren they can't look at the Ten Commandments in school because it might make them think about obeying them. People turn themselves as a deity. In this land of ours, our founders created our form of government in such a way that to corrupt it, one has to corrupt the entire people, because our government rest in the people. The goal of evil is to overthrow all that is good, all that is right, and all that is Christian about our people, and to twist that into such a form of self promotion that our virtue will vanish like a mist at noonday. America has a long track record of fighting evil, and the author of evil knows this. Therefore he has chosen to attack us at our most vital point, our hearts, minds, and souls. If the evil one can corrupt us in this most vital area, we will fall at the first sign of trouble. I must get ready for work, but I leave you with the cry of Elijah to the nation of Israel:

"How long {will} you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal(evil, humanism), follow him."

America! May we ever follow Christ, the One and Only, True God.

Computer Repair

Hello everyone!

The last few days have been a whirl of activity. With school in the mornings and work in the evenings life is pretty busy. Yesterday, while I was checking at the grocery store, a man came in and asked my manager if she knew of anyone locally who worked on computers. My ears perked up, and I asked what the problem was. He responded that his computer was running slow and seemed to have a virus. After we talked a bit, I took his name and number and talked to mom about working on it. So this morning, I gave him a call and be brought his computer in. It is an AWESOME SYSTEM! With a 64 bit processor! Oops, sorry about the geek speak. :-) But this computer, in good running condition is what all my buddies and I drool over at the store and online, this one just happens to have a bit of a head cold.

I looked it over, looked in my A+ book (Computer repair guide) and after some work got it into working shape. It still has a lot of fine tuning to do, but it is out of the woods for now. This has brought me back to thinking about opening my own computer maintenance business. I could make much better money then I am currently at the store and I would get to work from home.

Something to think about anyway. :-)

Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies

Hello everyone!

Today, my family watched the opening night of the Olympics. We enjoyed watching the US team stepping onto the field in the Parade of Nations and hearing about who is considered a front-runner this year. However, just as they were beginning to end the ceremonies, I was stunned by a song that the Olympic Commission had apparently chosen to be sung. It was called " Imagine" by John Lennon. It asked you to "imagine a world, without a heaven(or a hell)" It asked you to imagine a world without religion and nothing to die for. The whole of the vile lyrics can be found here. And what shocked me most was, not only were people not booing the singer off the stage, they were clapping and even joining in!!! Our very athletes from the good 'ol USA were singing along with this heinous melody!

Oh America, from what heights you have fallen! When you stoop to calling for the falling of your nation and the rejection of your God! This world you claim to wish for is a doped up "peace man" kind of world which will never come about! In a world without government, in a world without law, morals or right and wrong, it would only be a matter of time before some ambitious evil minded person took the opportunity to enslave us all. That is just one of the many problems with this song and its philosophy.

And I am not the only one who feels this way! A quick run through Technorati will show you that there are other who picked up on this. Take this one for example.

"Have Europeans already forgotten that we just got through a century in which militant atheists (Mao, Stalin) and pagans (Hitler) staged the worst crimes in the history of man?
Foolishness!"

Oh America (and the world in general), what has happened to you?

D-Day and My Book Bag

Hey everyone!

Paintball:
Well, I had a paintball fight yesterday in which we reinacted D-Day! That was so much fun!!!! In the course of doing that, we discovered something that the Allies should have done on D-Day. All the troops should have been armed with full automatic weapons. A person with a automatic can make their own cover. :-D Almost everytime a guy with an auto-type weapon would attack the German bunkers, all the defenders would duck, allowing the rest of the Allied troops to reach cover on the sea wall. :-) We had a great time.

Also, I was hoping to do a Square Talk show on the State of the union address, but I am not sure if we will be able to get it together. HOWEVER, Alex told me of a cool new way to do a micro show all by one's self. So I may do that here pretty soon.

President Bush's State of the Union Address

I was also at work when President Bush addressed our country last night, BUT my mom recorded it for me! I hope we can do a Square Talk Radio show on that soon.

It was a very good speech from what I have seen so far. On of the things that struck me funny was the Democratic response. It seemed...well...Conservative. It looked to me as if the Liberals are doing what they do best...flip flop...to try to regain power in a country that is leaning further and father to the right. The Democrat Governor of Virginia spoke out for them, and he seemed to be pandering to conservatives, speaking of "God" and "working together for the good of our nation". Both of those things are good, but strangely "Carter-ish". If the liberals are so willing to cooperate why don't they quit trying to filibuster conservative court appointees? The answer?

They are not moving to the right, they just want you to think they are. They are playing off a Southern "down home" Democrat with the goal of throwing the Republicans out of the White House and out of power. They have done it before with Carter and Clinton and they are going to see if it will work again. So do not to tricked, ladies and gentlemen, the Democrats are still liberal and it is only YOUR movement to the right that has changed their tune. And do you really want people who flip flop on every issues depending upon the latest poll making decisions for your country?

The Law of the Sea Treaty and A New Paintball Gun!

I finally broke down and did it. I got a new paintball gun!

Isn't she a beauty? A Kingman Spyder Xtra, this darling can fire paint as fast as I can pull the trigger. :-) Having a job does have its advantages....and its disadvantages, namely my time to blog has been reduced. However, I aim to keep this here site running for a right smart spell yet. /End Backwoods English

My last topic was cloning, so today I believe I will address a new issue that has come to my attention from the GenJ Online Government. There is a treaty called the Law of the Sea Treaty. I have some very big problems with this treaty, some of which are expressed by Eagle Forum here. This treaty would clearly surrender our national sovereignty over our sea lanes and wouldn't be worth the paper it was written on if a war broke out. What is scary about it is the Bush administration supports it!!! Have a look at it and let me know what you think.

The Job, The Hearing, World War II, and Horse Cloning.

Hello everyone,

Well, I have finished my 4th day on the job and am starting to get the hang of things around the store. Last week was a fun but busy week. The campaigns for Senate are running full steam over at the GenJ Online Government. Can't tell to much about that until it is all over, but I can tell you that our dear friend David Ketter is in the running for President! :-)

I got to hear Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh a lot today, and one of their main topics was Samuel Alito's confirmation hearings and especially the fact that Mrs. Alito burst into tears at one point. I haven't looked into this enough to have a head-fast opinion yet, but something smells rotten in DC.

I have been reading up a good bit of late on the Second World War. with emphasis on the Desert and Air Wars. I borrowed some very worthy volumes on these topics from my Grandma's husband Larry and I have been greatly enjoying reading them. :-)

Now on to another topic. The other day, Dad was reading an article about horse cloning. Here in Oklahoma they are working on cloning prize winning horses to sell for very high prices. My question is, when and if this practice become widespread, will horse prices plummel? For example, if they were to clone a really nice horse, (we will call this horse Black Beauty") the first say hundred clones will bring really good money. But what would happen if cloning became so widespread that there was hardly a uncloned horse left. What if you could run to the sale barn and buy a "Black Beauty#7842" for a song? What would our world be like if this became widespread? (Not just in horses, but in any animal) Would livestock prices fall? Would we ever have "uncloned" livestock again? Please leave me your thoughts in a comment.

New Job and a Movie!

More Fires in Oklahoma while Life Goes On

Hello everyone.

Good grief we have had a ton of fires lately. Since my first post on fires, there has not been a day go by I have not seen firetrucks fly by our house. There have been 250,000 acres burned so far with 30,000 of those in the last week. Dad and I spend a good deal of Saturday afternoon turning our farm truck into a firefighting rig. We added a 275 gallon water tank to the back and stowed several 5-gallon buckets in the back for water dispention.(sp?) We have still been watering around the house and have added several water containers about the house with water ready to use. On our way to church today we couldn't help but notice the preparations people were making. One rancher had disked up the road next to his pasture so that any fire would be greatly slowed by 8-16 foot wide strip of dirt. Our neighbor to the south has brushhoged a 50 foot strip of his pasture that is nearest to the highway so as to slow any fires progress. After preparing defenses for the house, Dad and I have been discussing different plans on how to keep a fire out of our 90 something bales of hay. (With hay prices at about 10 dollars a bale you can see why we would want to protect these) But life goes on here in the great state of Oklahoma. I had a great time at the end of the year party last night. We got to play Halo 2 and BattleFront 2 quite a bit. :-) Some of the costumes were really good! One girl came as Susan from the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. My sister Chloe went as a teacher, and she looked very teacherly I can tell you! We had several OU and OSU fans, a caveman, a deer hunter, Sherlock Holmes and Watson, the Phantom of the Opera, as well as Raggidy Ann and Andy. It was a very enjoyable evening.

My dad, sister and myself are preparing to attend our church's annual New Year Eve costume party. Last year I went as the Lone Ranger *grin* and this year I am going as an Eagle Scout. Clever huh? :-) Last year we played in the new year on 4 LAN connected X-Box's. I am not sure what we are doing this year but I am sure it will be just as fun.

Fires and Generation Joshua

Hello everyone!

I am sorry I have taken so long to get a new post up, but with Christmas and everything one gets quite busy and blogging seems to drop a bit on the priorities list. But here is an update!

First of all, I had a wonderful Christmas. I got to enjoy many games of ping-pong and pool with my cousins, while enjoying worthwhile conversation with my uncles, aunts and other relatives. My dad got a really cool 2 million candle watt flashlight! It shines the better part of 200 yards. A very cool gift. :-)

Now to our headlines, today we had a large fire across town from us. We are about a foot behind our recommended rainfall and everything is dry as all get out. Sounds like Hannah of Sold Out and our southern brethren in Texas are in just as bad shape.

Please pray for an Okie/Texas style gully washer. :-) We have been watering our yard as a precaution, but I am getting of track on my story...

We were going to the city to get some feed when we saw smoke starting to rise. We thought it looked like it was close to one of my cousins property so we picked him up and headed out that way. We found the fire licking at the back edge of his land with the fire department hammering away at it. A group of local farmers and ranchers started in with tractors and disks to clean out the brush around the blaze. We had no such implements at our immediate disposal so we took to helping a lady water down her yard. Her house was in pretty good shape to withstand a blaze as she had two hoses that could both be brought to bear on the side of her house that was near to the blaze. After finishing that we circled the mile section and drove onto my cousins land from the opposite side as the fire with the intention of moving his tractor out of the way if the fire spread in that direction. We arrived in the back of the pasture to find two things, (1) the tractors battery was dead(not good) and (2) the fire department had about gotten the blaze put out. We loaded up the battery then drove my cousin back to his gas station. Now about two hours behind on our feed run, we drove into the city and picked up one ton of feed. Which proved somewhat interesting due to the fact that we only have a half-ton pickup. :-) But we drove about 50 and made it home ok.

In other news, I have been spending a lot of time campaigning for Senator on the Generation Joshua Online Government. I think my campaign is going pretty well, but there is still a lot of time left in the race. I am looking forward to the Senate debates which are coming up very soon.

Secondly, I watched Narnia yesterday! That is the best movie I have seen in a LONG time! I think today I am going to download the demo to the video game :-)

So, what is the Grinch doing in this post? Well, he was the inspiration for a very enlightening poem by fellow Eagle Scout and blogger, Christian Politician called "How the ACLU stole Christmas" I would encourage you to have a look at it.

In other news, I got a new book yesterday called "So Help Me God" by Former Justice Roy Moore of Alabama, the leader of the Foundation for Moral Law and a man who was kicked out of his judicial seat because he refused to remove the Ten Commandments from his courthouse lawn. It is a very good book regarding religious freedom in America today. After getting this book I snooped around a bit on the internet and found that Mr. Moore is running for Governor of Alabama. After reading what this man believes, I wish him the best of luck and a successful win in that race next year.

On another government type note, I have been trying to log in on the Generation Joshua Online Government forums, but I have been unsuccessful as of yet. I am running for Senate and I need to get campaigning if I hope to win a seat. :-)

LAN Party

Today I had 3 of my buddies over for a LAN party. We had 4 computers and a Game Cube set up and we had a blast. (Quite literally)

One of the games we played was called Jedi Outcast. We were running all over the map having saber duals and blaster shoot-outs. Then we tried out another game called "Clone Wars" in which the four of us worked together to defeat waves and waves of attacking droids. I was the last one standing on that game. *grin*
After that we played a game called "Carnivores CityScape" in which you act out the part of a military team who is sent in to rescue the crew of a spaceship transporting dinosaurs to earth from a distant planet which was forced to crash outside of a major city. We saved all people we encountered and eliminated all offending dinosaurs. :-D
Then on the Game Cube, we played something called "Mario Cart Double Dash". We raced around the map in cars forged from hallow logs desperately throwing bananas out the back while using mushrooms to rocket us forward. I lost pretty bad on that game. I think I only made second place once. :-( There was this one curve with a BIG pothole. (And I mean BIG!!!) We are talking like the size of a small semi! And I....um.....kept falling into it. :-)

The Life Of Travis:

Last Saturday I took the ACT for my second time. I think I did better on Reading, English, and Math but I ran out of time on the Science! :-( I got about 2/3 done and then had to guess at the rest. My last score was a 23 and my goal is a 26+. More updates on this when I get my test back.

Today, the city of Ada, Oklahoma, has a nativity scene as part of their Christmas lights display.
But if it weren't for the insistence of a concerned citizen, Craig Rogers, and the help of the ACLJ, this would not have been the case!

Craig alerted us when he was informed by the city that a nativity scene would not be included in the park's Christmas display. We directed him to our Religious Holiday Displays Information letter, he took copies of it to distribute at a city meeting, and a nativity scene was added to the Christmas plans.

A solid victory for Craig ... Ada, Oklahoma ... the ACLJ ... and you!

Craig's inquiry to the ACLJ is just one of many we have already received regarding the

Sixty-three years ago today, the attack on Pearl Harbor took place. That was the beginning of the great confict called World War II. This war was fought to see if good could conqueror evil, if justice could conqueror hate, and if love and peace could heal the wounds of such a conflict. 3 score and 4 years ago, young men died for freedom's cause, the rights their forefathers fought for at Gettysburg, Fort McHenry, and Yorktown. All of this based on the premise that there can be a place where freedom and justice can thrive. That there is a place where all men can worship God as they please. A place where men can work and raise their family's, to train them up in the way they should go, a place where they can be free. By the Lord's grace we are allowed to live in this land. This one nation under God. Our fathers bled so that we might be free, free from tyranny, free from slavery and free from communism. The Lord is so good to us. Target Backing Off Ban, May Use Christmas In Ads Later This Year

Here is a new AFA new release on the Christmas issue.

Dear Travis,

Your efforts are having a powerful effect! Our boycott of Target is working! According to the New York Times, a spokeswoman for Target said it did not intend to ban Christmas and might use Christmas in advertisements later this year!

In addition, Sears is adding "Merry Christmas" signs in their stores.

And here is new evidence of anti-Christian bias: A survey done by AFA shows that 91% of TV ads ban Christmas from their advertising.

We want you to help us stop this banning of Christmas. The survey included one night (Dec. 1) of prime time programming on the four major networks.

As Bill O'Reilly of The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel said, "There is an anti-Christian bias in this country, and it is more on display at Christmas season than any other time."

AFA found that the "holiday" theme was used in 105 commercials while Christmas was the theme in only 11. This follows the pattern in print advertising where "holiday" was used 25 times more often than Christmas. These companies don't want to offend a handful of atheists and agnostics, but they don't mind offending millions of Christians who celebrate the Reason for the season.

They find Christmas an offensive word. We have prepared a letter to 24 companies which banned Christmas in their TV ads and chose "holiday" instead. Your one click of the button will send a letter to all 24 of these national advertisers. We know it is probably too late to change their ads this year, but we must let them know that next year we expect them to include Christmas in their TV commercials!

Update! As David was good enough to explain to me, I did not at all grasp this story's gist by reading its preface. Here is the information David gave me.

Actually, the USS Pueblo was attacked by MiGs and six NK naval vessels, and there was a fight. The battle lasted over an hour. A number of members of the Pueblo's crew were wounded (1 killed), even though it was not a combat vessel. Better re-check your sources. Send A Polite Letter To Kmart/Sears Asking Them To Do The Same

Dear Travis,

Because of your efforts, Walgreens has released the following response: "Next year, you can be assured our advertising will better incorporate 'Christmas,' and our holiday trees will be called Christmas trees. Unfortunately, all of this years December ads are already printed, so it's too late to make changes for this season."
In addition, Lowe's has released a statement saying they now refer to all trees as "Christmas Trees" and have removed all signs that previously calling them "Holiday Trees."
Your actions are bringing good results! We are hearing that many retailers are re-thinking their banning Christmas. Keep up the good work!
Would you please send the enclosed polite letter to Kmart/Sears asking them to make Christmas an integral part of their promotions and advertising next year? We feel there is good reason to believe Kmart/Sears might honor your request. We will keep you informed as to their response.

AFA asks for boycott because of Targets anti-Christmas stance

Dear Travis,
In an effort to get Target to include "Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising for next year's (2006) season, we wrote Chairman Robert Ulrich. We told Chairman Ulrich that we knew it was too late to change his in-store promotions and retail advertising for this year. We asked him if Target would assure us that the company would make Christmas an integral part of their promotions and advertising next year. We told Chairman Ulrich that if Target would honor our request, we would encourage our supporters and others to shop at Target. But we also said that if he refused, or did not respond, we would ask our supporters to boycott Target. How did Chairman Ulrich respond to our request? He did not respond at all! Chairman Ulrich sent a clear messageTarget will continue to ban "Christmas." Would you join us in a boycott of Target, and forward this to friends and family asking them to do the same? Yes, there are other companies which refuse to use Christmas. But if Target gets the message and their sales go downevery other national retailer will also get the message! Then we can expect some big changes in their promotion and advertising next year. Target doesn't want to offend a small minority who oppose Christmas. But they don't mind offending Christians who celebrate the birth of Christ, the Reason for the season. It is very important that you sign our pledge to boycott Target. Nearly 600,000 have already done so. Our goal is 1,000,000. We need your help!

Hello everyone!

I have a lot of things to tell you about, life has been quite exciting since Thanksgiving. :-)
First of all, as we were driving home from a very good day at Grandma's thanksgiving night, we arrived home to see a strange pick-up in our driveway. We drove in the driveway and crept up slowly in our suburban. We took down the trucks tag number as we looked at the house from the safety of the suburban. After thinking a bit, we backed down the driveway, closed the gate and zoomed to the police station. After arriving, we had the police run the tag number and we found that the pickup belonged to an old friend of the family and had most likely broken down and had been pushed into our drive. So we went back home, looked the house over real good and collapsed into bed.

Then, today Mom and I got to talk to a private investigator. :-D He was out working his day job with our electric company and he started telling us about his off-the-job adventures. He is a black belt in Judo and Ju Jitsu, and doesn't carry a gun on the job. :-) He told us how one time an old lady with a broom almost beat him to death when he served her with a court notice about her daughters unpaid for car.(she was a co-signer for this vehicle, and therefore could be served with papers) She thought he was trying to evict her from her house and defended it valiantly. :-) finally, they both started laughing and she quit hitting him long enough for him to tell her why he was really there. He was quite a fun fellow to talk to. I greatly enjoyed the conversation.

I have so many ideas for articles, the problem seems to be having time to write. I hope to see all of you here again soon.

Companies Ban 'Christmas,' Not Worried About Backlash

Another timely AFA email. It is particularly interesting considering our last episode of Square Talk Radio.

Dear Travis,

Several retailers have joined in the push to ban the use of "Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. The new push to eliminate "Christmas" and replace it with "Happy Holidays," "Season's Greetings," etc. is gaining ground with several retailers participating. Not wanting to offend a handful of complainers, these companies are willing to offend the vast majority who hold Christmas as a time to celebrate the birth of Christ. Their attitude is that those who identify themselves as Christians don't care if they eliminate "Christmas." While it is too late to make changes this year, we have already sent letters to several major retailers we have identified as participating in banning "Christmas," asking them to put Christmas back into their in-store promotions and retail advertising next year. We have sent letters to the chairmen of Target, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Kmart/Sears, Costco, Kohl's and Lowe's about their practice. (Lowe's even refuses to promote their trees as Christmas trees, but calls them "Holiday Trees." Their toll-free number is 1-800-445-6937.) Please sign our petition letting these companies know that banning "Christmas" in their promotions and advertising next year will result in a loss of business. As we identify other companies participating in this practice, we will contact them. We need your support to be effective. That is why we need your petition. Please help us get the word out by forwarding this to your friends and family. Many of them will want to participate. We will keep you informed on which companies make changes and which ones refuse.

Our Future - Safe In Christ

Hello everyone,

I have been thinking tonight about my past, present and future. Looking back on my life so far I remember, the 50 mile hike our Scout troop took in the New Mexico mountains. Our troop was a team. We sweated through snow, rain and blistering heat together. We working through the seemingly endless rows of merit badges required for Eagle Scout. Then, together we walked together up onto the platform and our dad's pinned on our Eagle badges. I remember the feeling of walking onto the campus of NorthEastern A&M college and for the first time in my life spending a week with people I did not know. I remember the joys of seeing my mother, sister and one of my little brothers, crossing the college grounds when the time came to go home. I greatly enjoyed my time there, but there is truly no place like home. I remember the time Dad and I were out looking for lost cows, I was just a little fellow not more then 4 or 5 years old, and Dad picked me up and carried me across the creek on his shoulders. I recall the one memory that sticks in my head about my Grandpa Troy. He and Dad where feeding cows and I got to ride along. I remember him laughing and what a good time it was to be riding with "the big guys" doing a man's job. I recall the many times my other Grandad would grab me and wrestle with me while I screamed with glee or the many times he, Dad and I would be hard at work changing the oil on our suburban. The times out on a camping trip or driving through a pasture on a starlight night, reflecting on the wonder of God's creation.

Then my thought began to cross into the unknown, the future of Travis Henry. Here I am, an 18 year old boy who has been blessed with so much in his short lifetime so far. I am set to graduate in May and with that will close one chapter of my scholastic life. Where will life go from there? The doors of college loom large before me. I want to be equipped for whatever God would have me to do with the rest of my life and college seems to be the best way for me to achieve that. On December the 10th, I will retake the ACT test. If my score is raise sufficiently I can get a full ride scholarship to ECU, a local community college. Please pray for me as I prepare for that test. After college, only One knows. Law School? Congress? Marriage? Family? I am encouraged by the words of the Holy Scriptures.

Life and Happenings (Sounds like the name of a blog...)

Hello everyone!

Today my family went on a field trip to a local pie factory. We got to watch 15oo pies being baked at the same time, and even brought a few some home! My sister and I had been on this trip before but it was the first time for my two younger brothers. they both enjoyed it greatly.

Tim , Alex and I are all taking about the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons and the way liberals are trying to pull the Christianity out of both holidays. Please head over there and give it a download!

I have been working on my math a good deal as of late in preparation for the ACT coming up in December. I hope to raise my score by some 3 points and that will take some study.

I checked out some good books from the library this week on of which is about Patrick Henry. The title (cleverly enough) is 'Patrick Henry - Firebrand of the Revolution". It is an enjoyable book that I would recommend to any reader.

My dad and I attended a defensive driving class in order to both improve our driving and get a lower insurance rate. During the class, the instructor was telling us the penalties other countries give drunk drivers. Here are a few of them.

Russia - license is revoked for life
Sweden - One to two year in prison.
El Salvador - Death By firing squad(!)

Well, I guess El Salvador doesn't have a problem with second offenders...

You can help END partial-birth abortion

Tomorrow, our major brief will be filed at the Supreme Court of the United States in the Gonzales v. Carhart case.
This case represents our opportunity to see partial-birth abortion BANNED in our country once and for all.
And we will not back down!

As you may recall, Congress approved a national ban on this horrible procedure years ago.
But it was hardly a victory for us:

The law was almost immediately challenged in three separate legal cases in Nebraska, New York, and California.

In the Nebraska case - thanks to the ruling of an activist judge - a federal appeals court declared the ban unconstitutional.

In response, the U.S. Solicitor General filed a petition with the Supreme Court to uphold the constitutionality of the ban and reverse the lower court's ruling.
Our major brief supports the government's position and represents 70 members of Congress.
The ACLJ has been involved in defending the national ban on partial-birth abortion since its passage by Congress - and we will not stop now!

It is time to see an end to the murder-torture of partially-born babies in our country!

Newdow Files Suit To Take National Motto Off Currency

Tells ACLU meeting "In God We Trust" must go

Dear Travis,

Michael Newdow, who has already filed a suit to take "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance, is now suing to remove our national motto from our currency. Newdow told the ACLU of Oklahoma that the national motto on U.S. currency is a violation of the separation of church and state. He is offended because he is an atheist. He wants to use the Federal courts to make his atheism the official religion of America.

Newdow filed in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which recently ruled that judges, not parents, have the final say in what will be taught school children concerning sex education. These same liberal judges supported Newdow and ruled that the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional. That suit was dismissed due to a technicality so Newdow sued again. The 9th U.S. Circuit is expected to agree with Newdow. The case will then go to the U.S. Supreme Court for final action.

I hear that Texas passed a law defining marriage as between a man and a woman. My complete support goes to them. God made marriage, not the government and only God should be allowed to change his law. Government tinkering will only damage our culture farther.

I am currently working on a bit of fiction writing in my spare time. It is somewhat akin to the Hardy Boys books. I may share that with you at some future time.

Boy Scouts under attack...again

Today, the ACLJ has again represented you and your interests by filing our major brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Here's the crux of the situation:

With the help of the ACLU, Mr. Eugene Winkler and other taxpayers brought a lawsuit against the military for their support of the National Scout Jamboree, held every four years.

(It is important to note that the military has provided service and support for this national event since 1937. Furthermore, Congress passed the Jamboree statute in 1972 to formally recognize the military's role in the Jamboree.)

The plaintiffs argued that the Jamboree statute - and others - were laws ''respecting an establishment of religion'' in violation of the First Amendment ...

... since the Boy Scouts' oath contains an affirmation to God.

The District Court agreed.

As this case makes its way to the appeals court, the ACLJ is ready to continue fighting for religious freedom in America!

Bearing the signatures of 88 members of the House and Senate, our brief contends that - among other things - the Jamboree statute was written by Congress to help the military pursue its own recruiting and public relations interests through involvement with private organizations ...

... not to promote the Boy Scouts of America's religious beliefs.

This is just another blatant attempt by the ACLU and others to destroy the Boy Scouts of America - because it is part of the scouts' oath to affirm their belief in God.

The Boy Scouts Jamboree is a time-honored national tradition ... we cannot allow it to be destroyed to advance the liberal cause of the ACLU and others!

The ACLJ will continue to fight this unconstitutional ruling and will keep you updated on our progress in the days to come.

Busy Days filled with Future Promise

Hey guys!

Today was science lab so we went into town early this afternoon, which pushed our days schedule back which seems to place blogging back a few levels in priority. :-( Dad and I enjoyed working on some Algebra problems together in preparation for my upcoming second taking of the ACT test. I need it raise my score some 3 points in order to get a scholarship and math was my weakest subject last time so I am really wanting to work on that. However, I did have some time to think about some neat topics I would like to write on including, the French Muslim riots and what the United States can learn from the 17th century British about fighting terrorists. I hope to address these issues sometime in the near future.

Also, Alex posted the new Square Talk show about gun control. In it Tim plays the liberal and Alex and I play conservatives. Both sides may or may not hold to the side they were debating, but it was a ton of fun to make and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!

This morning, praise keeps rolling in from the right side of the isle supporting Alito, while from the lift comes whining and muttered threats of filibuster. Just what a conservative loves to hear on a judicial nominee, cheering Republicans and booing Democrats. And to top it all aff the "gang of 14" or "mod squad" is said to be breaking up. When Democrats like Sen. Barbara Boxer started throwing out quotes like,"The filibuster's on the table," right wing members of the "mod squad" such as Sen. Mike DeWine began to pull out.

"If someone would filibuster ... I would be prepared to vote to change the rules," said Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio.
DeWine is one of the 14 centrist senators that Democrats need to sustain a filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee. Without the group's seven Republicans, Democrats would not be able to prevent Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., from abolishing judicial filibusters and confirming judges with just the Senate's 55-member Republican majority.

The Democrats are on a downhill slide and the Republican leadership is getting ready for any desperate actions the liberals might throw at them.

Sen. Bill Frist said he's ready to move against judicial filibusters, using what Republicans call the "constitutional option," if Democrats force him to. "If a filibuster comes back, I'm not going to hesitate," he told "The Tony Snow Show" on Fox News.

A new justice will not make the difference on Roe v. Wade in the court's present configuration. Besides the moderate O'Connor, five of the eight other justices have endorsed a woman's right to the procedure.
As an appeals court judge, Alito was required to follow Supreme Court precedent, which he did.
In 2000, for example, Alito was among the judges who ruled that a New Jersey law banning late-term abortions was unconstitutional, following high court precedent.

Just one more pro-life justice can't overturn Roe v. Wade. We need one or two more to flip that.

Gone to Church Camp

I write to withdraw as a nominee to serve as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. I have been greatly honored and humbled by the confidence that you have shown in me, and have appreciated immensely your support and the support of many others. However, I am concerned that the confirmation process presents a burden for the White House and our staff that is not in the best interest of the country.
As you know, members of the Senate have indicated their intention to seek documents about my service in the White House in order to judge whether to support me. I have been informed repeatedly that in lieu of records, I would be expected to testify about my service in the White House to demonstrate my experience and judicial philosophy. While I believe that my lengthy career provides sufficient evidence for consideration of my nomination, I am convinced the efforts to obtain Executive Branch materials and information will continue.

As I stated in my acceptance remarks in the Oval Office, the strength and independence of our three branches of government are critical to the continued success of this great Nation. Repeatedly in the course of the process of confirmation for nominees for other positions, I have steadfastly maintained that the independence of the Executive Branch be preserved and its confidential documents and information not be released to further a confirmation process. Comments: Oh boy. Here we go again.

Here is where she blew her cover on Roe v. Wade. She stated

"...the more I think about these issues(abortion and other religious matters) the more self determination makes the most sense."

This lady just lost me as a supporter, but that doesn't really matter now.

What do you make of the fact that access to White House documents keeps coming up in the confirmation process?

It was an issue when President Bush nominated John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and it was an issue in the Miers nomination.
It turned out that the brewing fight for documents provided the perfect exit strategy for a nomination that was already in trouble. Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer, who was a Miers opponent, laid all this out two weeks ago, saying this would be an excuse for a gracious exit for Miers. The fight over Bolton's documents was between the White House and Democrats. The difference in Miers' case was that Republicans also wanted access to those documents. The real reason Miers withdrew was that she did not have enough support among Republican senators. She had many private meetings with them this week and she was not impressive or forthcoming enough to prompt more than four of them to come out in support of her. (They were Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Orrin Hatch of Utah, and the two Texas senators -- John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison.)

It seems that Miers was losing support fast within the senate and President Bush was no longer confident that she could be confirmed. Also her thoughts on overturning Roe v. Wade have become distorted at best. We now have documents that say she is for overturning it and she is for upholding it. Not the kind of solid pro-life conservative person we want on the Supreme Court.

Michel Gorbachev comes to Town.

Hello everyone! Yesterday, my dad, sister and I went into town to hear a speech given by former U.S.S.R. President Michel Gorbachev. As we entered the building, I took note of the high volume of security. There were policemen and highwaypatrolmen guarding every door and stairwell of the building. We worked our way to our seats and sat down. Mr. Gorbachov entered and began his speech. He was a bit hard to hear, but I managed to make out most of it. He spoke on issues of national foreign policy and globalization. Here are some of the key parts of the speech that I made note of.

"Communication is the key to reconciling disputes"
From my experience this quote is very true. Without good communication no one gets anywhere with anything.

"Trust but verify" Very true statement.

"Reagan was a real dinosaur"
BHODL, he used this quote to show that while he and Reagan were at such odds at one time, good communication pulled them out and allow negotiations to continue.

"Rise above current problems to reach for future goals" Sounds like good advise.

He made note that there are new nations coming to the forefront of the world. He advised to to ignore them.

He hinted that good communication would solve all of our problems with Al Quita. This is totally crazy. The communication would run something like this.

Bin Ladin: Join our national Muslim State or die you infidels!
U.S.: No
Bin Ladin: Jihad! Jihad! Death to Americans!
U.S.: *Tank fires*
Bin Ladin: Retreat! Retreat! Death to Israel!
Israel: *Tanks fire*
Bin Ladin: Ok guys, you stay here and blow yourselves up while I run back and hid my cowardly little self in the mountains of Tora Bora.

Get the picture? Anyway...

He spoke against "policing the world". This I agree with to some extent. We don't have to go in and solve everyone's problems for them. However, if something in a foreign land threatens Americans or Americas national security, we have very right to go after them.

He made note to a JFK speech about or called "Pax America(cana?) I thought I might look that up later.

With that he concluded his speech and begin to take questions. While I was there I got to speak with Oklahoma House Representative Shane Jett. I found out he was homeschooled for a time and them went to a Christian school. He was very encouraging to me and offered some good advise for me to pursue in the future.

Altogether, it was a very fun and educational evening.

Law Books, Singer Kooks, and Other News

Hello all!

Law Books:
We went up to my Grandparents on Sunday and they had a surpise for me! Grandma had found some 1921 Oklahoma law books that belonged to my great-greatdad and she wanted to pass them on to me! I was overjoyed! These books are really cool, they have every Oklahoma state law from 1907 (when Oklahoma became a state) to 1921. Now, just to make that date seem a little more real, that was almost 20 years before World War I! It is interesting to look at the pay scale for public servants, a judge made an annual salery of $1500. That's almost $4.11 a day! Not hour, day. Inflation must not have been nearly as high as it is now. But, anyway on with the news!

Before I go into details, I want to supply you with the definition of the word "kook".

"kook": is a pejorative term for a person who writes or speaks in an authoritative fashion about a particular subject, often in science, but is alleged to have false or even ludicrous beliefs.)

With that definition in mind, here in brief, is the story.

Two white young female singers are pushing a message of hate for all other races except whites.
The reason this is even here is because these singers happen to be homeschooled.

As my family and I have discovered, just because a family says their homeschoolers does not mean that they are Christians, it just means that they for some reason or another have pulled their children from the public education system. In this case, the mother of these girls has pulled her girls to indoctrinate them with hate for all other races other then whites. A majority of homeschoolers take their children out of public school for the right reasons, to instill in their children a godly Christian worldview which they feel cannot be obtained at the local public school. However, every so often a story like this hits the airwaves and sends shocks through the Christian homeschooling community because it gives many people the only news they will ever hear about homeschoolers, the false news that all homeschoolers are white racists, child abusers or worse.

This lie is quickly countered if you take a look through the blogosphere. The great majority of homeschoolers are growing Christians who take pride in their country and believe that what a man does shows what he stands for, not the color of his skin.

So let the light shine, as they say, "there is a bad apple in every barrel", and this family is one of those.

I just got this story for Newsmax.com, have a look.

Damare, a small Sudanese boy, was taken as a slave and forced to tend camels after his village was attacked by radical Muslims. One day Damare, who had been raised in a Christian home, snuck away from his master to attend a church service. When he returned, his Muslim master was waiting for him and accused of committing a deadly act, "meeting with infidels." The master then dragged Damare into a field where he nailed his feet and knees into a large board while the boy cried out in agony.

Damare was miraculously rescued and has told The Voice of the Martyrs that just as Jesus was nailed and forgave, he forgives also. What bold faith from a simple Sudanese boy!
Damare is not alone in the persecution he has endured. The Muslim government of Khartoum in the North has declared a jihad, or holy war, against the mostly Christian South. Omar Hassan al-Turabi, an Islamic leader, has stated that anyone who opposes Islam "has no future." Since 1985, approximately two million have perished due to the genocide. Families in the South are terrorized-fathers killed, mothers raped, and children sold into slavery. Yet in the midst of these atrocities, the Christians in Sudan remains strong, worshiping their Savior and leading others to Him.

Damare has now received some assistance from workers with The Voice of the Martyrs. His wounds are still open and additional medical attention as well as some rehabilitation is still needed. (VOM is looking into further assistance.)

Wow, I can help but wonder is there anyway to stop this injustice? Whenever I hear I story like this the first thing that seems to come to my mind is how can this be stopped. Maybe that's just how I am geared up. What can be done to free these innocent people from tyranny? Let have a look.

The first thing we should know is that all true Christians will be persecuted.

2 Tim 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

However that does not mean we should not defend and help these fellow Christians. In fact we are commanded to.

Prov 31:9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.

What kind of evil are we to look out for?

Ps 94:21 They(evil persons) band themselves together against the life of the righteous And condemn the innocent to death.

Is 59:7 Their feet run to evil, And they hasten to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, Devastation and destruction are in their highways.

I can't help but wonder is there anyway we could help the largely Christian southern part of Sudan to raise up and overthrow their oppressors? What do you think? Is it the part of one nation with great power to defend the righteous people throughout the world?

Senators want more on Miers, who vows to try

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said Miers has taken the most extreme position of anyone I have ever known on abortion, assuming she believes that there ought to be a constitutional ban on abortion which would make it a crime except if a womans life is at stake.

Sweet!

This is the kind of thing that makes me think that Miers could be a good justice. We will just have to see what happens. I like the fact that she stated that she is/was pro-life some 20 years ago on a survey. I hope she proves to be the kind of pro-life strict constitutionalist justice we need on the bench.

Hey guys!

This is another slight departure from my normal politic'in, but I'd like to do it anyway. *grin*

As some of you know, the world famous Age of Empires series is launching its newest addition to the family, Age of Empires III, in 4 short days. For some time, I have thought it would be great fun to have a Christian Age of Empires Clan, where Christians could get together and enjoy this great game. On that note, may I unveil, the The Knights of Valor, THE place for Christian AoE gamers. We have about 6-8 members and would welcome many more. We hope to try out some clan vs. Clan gameplay as well as continuing our ranking system. I have recently downloaded the Age of Empires Fan Site Kit and hope to add some cool stuff over there soon.

Hey guys,

This is going to be a little off my usual posting subjects so please bear with me.

I was over at To Give an Answer last night where I found this article from the London Times. This article sights various polls and data to conclude that "religious" nations such as the United States have worse rates of "social ills"(teenage pregnancy, crime rates, abortion, and STD infection, etc.) then more secular nations like the UK. Please give this article a quick read and then come back.

Startling, is it not? Why would a nation with more people who claim to be Christian, have greater amounts of sin acting within those same people? Let's have a look.

What is the first thing you must do to come to Christ? Your eyes must be opened to the fear of the Lord.

Prov 1:7 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

What is the fear of the Lord?

Prov 8:13a "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;

When a sinner learns that there is a God out there and he punishes sinners with burning death forever, if that sinner receives that truth, he will become fearful of the Lord's wrath. Then he will come to hate the sin that condemns him to eternal destruction. He will reads verses like:

Jer 15:7 "I will winnow them with a winnowing fork At the gates of the land; I will bereave {them} of children, I will destroy My people; They did not repent of their ways.

He fights against that sin alone but to no avail.

Gal 2:21 "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness {comes} through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

This increases his terror of judgment. He cries out to the Lord saying "Lord, let me turn from my wicked ways!" "Change me, oh God, who is my hope!" He expresses his hate for his sin and his utter rejection of it, he seeks the Lord's help, he humbles himself. He is repenting.

Repentance - a change of mental and spiritual habit respecting sin, involving a hatred of and sorrow because of it, and a genuine abandonment of it in conduct of life.

James 4:6b "..."God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Now, with his heart crying out to God in humility, the Lord gives him grace and forgiveness. and says:

Ezek 18:31 "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel?
Ezek 18:32 "For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord GOD. "Therefore, repent and live."

Grace - the gift of God inhering in the soul, by which men are enabled to perform righteous acts.

He is now free from the bonds of sin that once bound him! He now seeks the Lord through His Holy Word, the Bible. He must know how the Lord who freed him wants him to stay free. He goes to a well-meaning local church, where after a week or two of attendance, he finds that the pastors daughter has had a child out of wedlock. He questions a member of the church asking how this could be allowed within the church. The church goer replies; "Well, nobody's perfect. Its a good thing she got saved back in '99" The man asks "How can she be living under the Lords protection and still be practicing these things?" "The Lord speaks very strongly against such activities." "Look mister, the church goer replys, "At least she is going to heaven, no one can go a day with out sin anyway." The man returns home in shock at what he has seen and heard. Is it true that no man can stop sinning and all you must do is be covered by this "grace" yet, continue in sin?
He returns home and begins to study his Bible in great depth. One day while reading through Romans, (one of the things he had heard in that church was the Romans road to salvation) he goes past the verses the church gave him and reads on into chapter 12. Four verses seem to jump out at him,

Rom 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.
Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Rom 12:9 ¶ {Let} love {be} without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.

and

Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good

Ah ha! He says to himself. They didn't read far enough. The "Roman's Road" goes on a bit farther than they thought. But, how can I be perfect? I am just a simple man.

Still thinking about that church, he flips back to a section of Luke.

Luke 12:1 Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first {of all,} "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Luke 12:2 "But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
Luke 12:3 "Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Luke 12:4 ¶ "I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.
Luke 12:5 "But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

He looks for more verses on the Pharisees and finds,

Luke 11:39 But the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter; but inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness.

Matt 23:25 ¶ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence.

Matt 23:26 "You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.

He says, " I understand now!" Those people back at that church look like Christians on the outside, but inside they are full of sin and unrighteousness! Well, phooy, if they messed up, what chance have I to live my life without sin as the Lord commands? Now, where was that commandment...oh here it is!

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus *found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you."

Phil 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
Phil 1:10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;

1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

Col 3:5 ¶ Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
Col 3:6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
Col 3:7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.
Col 3:8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, {and} abusive speech from your mouth.
Col 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its {evil} practices,
Col 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him

But, Lord, He said, how can I be sinless? I tried that before and I failed. Then a verse jumped out at him.

Rom 8:31 ¶ What then shall we say to these things? If God {is} for us, who {is} against us?

WOW! I see now! With the Lord on my side, I can overcome sin! What I couldn't do on my own Christ can do through me! It is possible to live without sin! One last verse caught his eye.

Phil 3:12 ¶ Not that I have already obtained {it} or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

This man, has great spiritual understanding for this day and time. How does this apply to the Times article? Let me explain.

America is full of church's, and a vast majority of our nation's population claims to be Christian, but are these people really hearing the saving true gospel that instructs a person to put away sin for good? Or are church's like the church our friend visited? A church that looks clean on the outside, but inside is dirty with sin? Are they hearing the Word when it says,

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, {he is} a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

There should be a change in a persons life when they come to Christ. It is people like the Pharisees who give sinners reason to curse the Lord as David did in his sin with Bathseba. The true Word of God changes a persons conduct and way of life. Let's look at a person floating out in the world, they sin and they think about joining a church. But, then one day they see the pastor of the congregation in open sin. They think, "Man, that guy in into sin deeper then I am and he is supposed to be spiritual, I don't want any part of that, I can deal with sin better myself." And they become an atheist or a agnostic because of that church's hypocrisy.

This is a somber post today guys, but I feel this had to be said. If the one true church is becoming perverted in America, what hope have we for our nation?

Paintball:

Just a quick personal update on me, yesterday after church about 10 of the teens all got together and played paintball! It was so much fun. One of the guys(Arron) bought a stock gun at Walmart and then upgraded it to look just like a M-16, it was incredible! And one of the other guys(Joseph) upgraded his from semi-auto to full auto(machine gun)! He can get about 13 balls a second with that thing. As I arrived and took in these things, my response was one of joy for them and slight butterflies from me. I have a $20 pump action gun which gets 4 balls a second on a good day. *weak smile* But, then Joseph was nice enough to long me his spare gun, a really nice pump with great sniper capabilities. After firing it a few rounds I knew I would enjoy using it. My strategy was to work in co-op with a gunner in a swat team like manner to make the best use of both our strenghs, accuracy and rate of fire. The greatest disadvantage to using a pump/sniper is that you can fight a gunner/semi-auto or better head to head. You have to use stealth and your accuracy to win.

The first round Donny(A nice fellow with a semi-auto) and I were in a sub-team together. At the beginning of the game we moved down the middle of the field, one of us covering the other while our partner run to a forward bunker. We started to take fire from the left, which we returned. Soon Donny landed a good shot and one of their players had been eliminated. I asked Donny to cover me while I ran across a little clearing in the woods to get to another bunker. A minute or two after I dashed into the bunker, I started to see figures in camo darting through the woods in front of me. The enemy team was counter-attacking. I ducked behind the bunker and opened fire on them. Suddenly, loads of paint begin pounding against my bunker. It was Joseph(the guy with the machine gun) and one other fellow. I called for Donny to cover me, but he didn't respond. One thought when through my head, "uh oh". Paint was hitting my bunker like there was no tomorrow when suddenly I saw the enemies flanker strafing across my field of fire. I got off about 2 shots when the incoming paint found its mark. I had been eliminated. As I was walking back I saw Donny coming back to the battleline. He told me he had run out of paint and had been forced to go back and reload. Oh dear.

The next game was probably my best, Arron(the M-16 guy) and I teamed up. Gunner and sniper working together. It was awesome! We flanked on their right side and totally demolished their flank and center. That was a awesome round.

The next round Arron, another guy and myself were flanking again when we were pinned down by Joseph! He was well dug in and was pouring out the paint. Arron and the other fellow pushed on toward the flank and I remained to cover the center and work my way to a strategic bunker. I heard Arron call that he was eliminated (gulp) so I made my move and dashed to the bunker. Donny and Joseph were slugging it out and I made it to the bunker unseen. I watched and waited. Then I made out Joseph's form as he raised out of the brush. I fired twice and he quickly ducked back behind his bunker. He then opened fire on my position and I in turn ducked. Then I waited. Joseph and Donny were still trading shots and I think Joe thought I had moved to another bunker. I raised up, was very thankful I was in full camo, and leveled my gun on a tree limb and waited. Then I saw Joe slowly raising up to get a better shot at Donny. I waited until I could see his waist above the brush then fired two shots. He spun around as the first shot sang past him, and was almost back behind his cover when my second shot caught him! Whoopee! And that was then end of that round.

Altogether, it was an incredibly fun day.

Another interesting new tidbit, I have heard the rumor that at a meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, President Bush said the following:

'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.' And I did. And then God would tell me, 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq.' And I did,

This has since been proven false. Abbas calls it false as does the White House.

Hehe, this article makes me happy. The guy is obviously a lefty, but he tells us right wingers a thing or two.

"Miers, like Bush himself, is classic Texas conservative Establishment, with the addition of Christian fundamentalism. What I mean by fundamentalist is one who believes in both biblical inerrancy and salvation by faith alone."...

She is enrolled in the Valley View Christian Church of Dallas, which she attended for at least 20 years before moving to Washington five years ago. Among her fellow churchgoers was Nathan Hecht of the Texas Supreme Court, considered second only to Priscilla Owen as that court's most adamant anti-abortion judge."

Sweet! Now this guy either doesn't know his history or looks at it through left wing glasses(only sees what he wants to see) because he uses a Madison quote:

As an 1803 quote attributed to James Madison goes: ``The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries.''

to back up his point. However if you look at this history a little deeper you will find that Madison is right but this fellow is wrong. The founders did not want only on Christian denomination in power at any time. They had way to much of that back in England where you were thrown in jail if you were more Protestant then the king. However they had no intention of removing Christianity from government! They only wished to see that no one denomination could run the government and persecute the other denominations.
